MSc. COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY

Applications are invited for MSc. (Computational Biology) programme offered by the Centre for Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. The 4-semester Msc. (Computational Biology) programme under Credit and Semester System admits students holding the following degrees and/or Diplomas offered by the University of Kerala or recognized by the University of Kerala as equivalent thereto:
• BSc. (Computer Science)
• BSc. (Electronics)
• BCA
• BSc. Physics and Computer Applications
• BSc. in any branch with PGDCA
• BTech.
• Any other Bachelors Degree in allied areas.
The following are the subjects of study: Introduction to Life Sciences, Bio Mathematics & Statistics, Bio-Physics, Computational Genomics, Introduction to Biotechnology, Computational Proteomics & Metabolemics, Computational Transcriptomics, Computational Molecular Phylogenetics, Advanced Programming Tools, Computer Aided Drug Design, Micro Array Image Processing, Project & Viva Voce, and Elective courses (Systems Biology, Data Mining, Professional Studies, Synthetic Biology, Advanced Topics, Programming in Perl, Soft Computing methods in Bioinformatics).
Admission will be based on marks scored in qualifying examinations and also in the entrance examination. Entrance Examinations will have 100 objective type questions: 40 questions on computer field; 10 questions on general Biology, 50 questions on logic & numeric reasoning. Index Marks for Ranking: 50% Aggregate in Bachelors; 50% Entrance Marks.
